Chimp Animal Testing Article

Is animal testing right? Is it justifiable? Why would we put another living being's life in danger if we aren't willing to put our own in the same situation? What makes us better? These could be a few questions that run through ones mind when the controversial topic of animal testing comes to mind.

A group of 186 chimpanzees are being pulled back into the world of animal testing after ten years of unofficial retirement. Before their retirement the chimpanzees' were used for medical testing in the United States. The governer of New Mexico, Bill Richardson is fighting NIH (National Institutes of Health) to save the chimpanzees from having to return to the world of animal testing. If Richardson succeeds the chimpanzees will be sent to Southwest National Primate Research Center in San Antonio, Texas. Many people think that  this group of chimpanzees have been through enough already and should not have to go back to it again.

To personally answer my earlier questions I don't think animal testing is right or moral but I see its reason. I'm sure someone knows how to justify this there usually is someone who can. I'm not sure about the answer to this question because I personally wouldn't do this since it is another living being. Something I have noticed is that Human beings think of themeselves as above and better than animals though they themselves are animals as well. A lot of people think this because humans have the ability to have more complex thought processes than other animals. But we other animals have other strengths to offer otherwise they would not have survived for so long, I believe we are not above animals since we all come from the same kingdom, Animalia.
